ORDINANCE NO. 8 -62 -A
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING
OF ALL CATS AND DOGS WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL;
PROHIBITING DOGS FROM RUNNING AT LARGE
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF CAPE CANAVERAL; AUTHORIZING THE IMPOUND-
ING AND DESTRUCTION OF CATS AND DOGS;
PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
HEREOF; PROVIDING THE METHOD OF PUBLICATION
.HEREOF; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BY A14ENDING
SECTION 1 (c), SECTION 2, SECTION 7,
SECTION 11 AND SECTION 12 OF ORDINANCE #8-
62; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAI14ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Paragraph (c) of Section I of Ordinance
#8 -62 is amended to read as follows: "(c) "At Large"
shall be intended to mean off the premises of the owner,
and not under the control of the owner or a member of his
immediate family or owner's agent either by leash, cord or
chain not exceeding 10 feet In length."
SECTION 2. The second sentence contained in SE•.CTION
2 of Ordinance #8 -62 Is amended to read as follows: "Cat
and dog licenses shall be issued by the City Clerk upon
request at no expense to the owner upon said owner- presenting
a valid certificate of vaccination against rabies t'or• said
dog or cat issued by a licensed veternarian.
SECTION 3. Section 7 of'. Ordinance #8 -62 is hereby
amended by striking the words "Humane Off'icer,.Mayor, or an
Alderman" contained in the 7th and 8th lines of said section
and inserting in lieu thereof the words "police Chief."
SECTION 11. Section 11 of Ordinance 8 -62 is hereby
amended by striking the words "or Mayor" appearing in the
7th line of said section.
SECTION 5. PENALTIES. Any owner found violating
any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of' a mis-
deameanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by
a fine not exceeding $100.00.

SECTION 6. SEPARABILITY OF PROVISION. It is the
. intention of the City Council that each separate provision
of this ordinance shall be deemed independent of all other
provisions herein, and . it is further the intention of the
City Council that if any provision of this Ordinance be de-
clared invalid, all other_ provisions thereof shall remain
valid and enforceable.

SECTION 7. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall
become effective immediately upon its adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape
Canaveral, Florida on this 2nd day of August, 1966.
